Buckingham Palace
For years the London Traffic Authorities had wanted to erect traffic signals, guard rails, bollards and pedestrian refuge islands outside Buckingham Palace, which would have enabled them to convert the 'free for all' round-about flow around the Queen Victoria monument into a safer and more regulated traffic flow condition.
However, the necessary street furniture would have been an unsightly obstruction during the many ceremonial occasions.
Poletech Systems provided the solution by supplying their Poletech PUBs (Permanent Underground Bases), which allowed all the street furniture to be easily demountable for any occasion.
The whole area around Buckingham Palace has been upgraded with some 600-700 Poletech PUBs units supporting traffic signals, cannon bollards, Keep Left bollards, and pedestrian refuge islands, all of which are easily lifted and either removed for State and ceremonial purposes or re-positioned for traffic or security control
