Poletech Illuminated PUBs
For illuminated signs, Poletech offers three demountable foundation solutions, which are as follows:
NB. Recent Highways Agency advice states that steel and aluminium sign poles of 76mm O/D and 89mm O/D with a nominal wall thickness of 3.2mm are deemed to satisfy BSEN 12767 for Passive Safety requirements and as such need not be protected by safety barriers. As the barriers previously protecting this signage will be removed, the chances of knockdown will be increased and any of the three types of Poletech PUBs should be used to allow rapid replacement of poles following collision.

Poletech Cable Access Boxes
The CAB (Cable Access Box) is used when a pole box is required at the base of the pole. The pole box can house spare cable and usually contains a Poletech PolePlug (a break-away electrical plug & cable system) when Passive Safety is a requirement, allowing rapid removal and replacement of the signal pole. Using this unit, a traffic signal can be reinstated in just five minutes. Made in standard sizes from 76mm O/D to 194mm O/D, and at any planting depth, no correctly installed Poletech PUB has needed to be replaced after a collision.
For Illuminated street furniture the Poletech CAB unit is the obvious answer to systemise foundations. Combining the Poletech PUB system with a CAB (Cable Access Box) or Pole box.
Poletech Rhino
The Poletech Rhino has all the benefits of demountability and is for use when a pole box is not required or when space is limited. The Rhino uniquely incorporates a small access facility, which allows manual access to the cable and pole locking mechanism. Not suitable for multi-cable installations.
The Rhino is commonly used when installation space is at a premium and any Cable Access Box or draw pit must be sited at a distance from the base of the pole. The cable access is via a lateral slot in the Rhino which corresponds to the slot in the signal pole. There is a vandal resistant, anti-rotation device accessible at ground level and all units are fully demountable. A full range of sizes are available at various planting depths. When used in a Passively Safe installation a Cable Access Box and Break-Away electrical connector are required.
Poletech Rotaduct
Poletech's Rotaduct is innovatively designed to save time and effort where space is at a premium. The pole is secured by a readily accessible vandal-proof anti-rotational mechanism. The duct entry elbow can be rotated (360 degrees) to the direction of the cable supply.
Poletech's Rotaduct is commonly used when the engineer wants to feed the cable directly from the base of the pole. The unit is supplied with a fitted duct entry at the base, which can rotate a full 360ยบ and there is a substantial pole anti-rotation device housed in a small vandal resistant chamber, which can be accessed from ground level. Rotaduct can be manufactured in all the usual sizes and at any planting depth as required. When used in a Passively Safe environment a cable access box is required to secure the cable leading to the Break-Away electrical connector.
